The Lafayette Hotel
About Us
In the Press
In the February 2009 Issue, Ohio Magazine featured a 2-page article about Marietta and the Blues, Jazz " Folk Music Society events held each year entitled “Marietta Sings the Blues”. The article included that Marietta has roots in folk music, a close relative of the blues. Marietta looks the part of blues towns such as New Orleans, with riverboats churning down the Muskingum and Ohio. Marietta is the oldest city in Ohio and has stood the test of time. The Lafayette seems to give off the perfect essence for this type of competition, as blues is a part of history, just as the grand ballroom itself.

  Ohio Magazine
In their January 2004 issue, Ohio Magazine featured the Lafayette as having the "Best Room At the Top": "Technically, it's not a penthouse since it's not on the top floor. Still, we think a night in one of the three penthouses (our favorite is No. 348) at the Lafayette Hotel in Marietta would make even a strict wordsmith turn the other cheek. The rates here are a bargain for the view, and the service is top-notch."

  Ohio Magazine
In the September 2002 issue, Ohio Magazine did a feature article called "College Town Treasures" which showcased Marietta College and featured the Lafayette Hotel prominently with a photo of the lobby and one of our newly-remodelled suites. "The Lafayette Hotel is something of a museum, going back to the nineteenth century. (It stands on the site of the former Bellvue Hotel, built in 1892.) Today the Lafayette is on the National Register of Historic Places and continues to provide comfort to travelers and visitors. The hotel is swathed in its history, including the Gun Room Long Rifle Collection, with 16 historic guns."

  Design
In their February 2004 issue, Design Magazine featured a two-page spread on Marietta in which they proclaimed it to be "Ohio's first and friendliest city": "A stone's throw from the Marquis de Lafayette's landing place is the Lafayette Hotel, a ragtime-era riverboat hotel furnished in Victorian style and recognized in the Historic Register of Historic Buildings. The Lafayette is something of a community gathering spot and anchors a diverse shopping district that includes antiques, specialty foods, collectibles, and accessories, all in neat rows of eighteenth-century buildings."

  Midwest Living
The March/April 2003 issue of Midwest Living featured an 8-page feature article about Marietta entitled "The Midwest's First Frontier". The article included the rich pioneer history of Marietta along with beautiful photographs of local attractions including the Lafayette.

  Road Runner
The February 2004 issue of Road Runner magazine (devoted to motorcycle cruising and touring) featured a 10-page article about Marietta's scenery and attractions, and included a full page devoted to the Lafayette Hotel: "We appreciate the comforts afforded in this hotel: the convenience of room, bar, and restaurant over one roof. And bikers are more than welcome here. The bar is a popular meeting place for the locals, which helps acquaint one with friendly, knowledgeable people. And to top it all off, the food and rooms are quite reasonably priced. We highly recommend this warm and stylish place."
