This trip was literally a spin a globe, place your finger on it and that’s where we are going type of trip! Besides the flooding that was taking place, everything about this trip was amazing! We booked a penthouse and the bed was absolutely amazing. The desk had all kinds of hidden drawers so it was like an old school safe. We did a breakfast and dinner package and couldn’t be happier. Well, I was going to order either the fish and chips or the prime rib and they had sold out of both of those so the hotel did refund one of our dinner tickets. The Sunday brunch buffet was so delicious and definitely worth the money. The bar staff were very attentive and definitely served up some tasty drinks. We traveled with our dogs on this trip and the hotel was very welcoming towards them. Everyone had to stop us and pet them. We will definitely be returning.
Loved our stay; the property is like going back in time. I love antiques and history and this hotel is full of both, For those that are used to modern accomodations, do not stay at the Lafayette; BUT if you are looking for something different and very quaint give it a try. I also recommend the bar for an evening cocktail and a bite to eat and the restaurant for breakfast was very good, So glad we stayed; it is something I’ve wanted to do forever, Even though it is checked off my bucket list; I may have to return for another visit!
This is an old hotel in historic downtown Marietta. Worth the stay. Great bar and restaurant on site. No free breakfast. Just remember you are staying in a historical hotel which lacks a lot of the modern conveniences. Take outlet adapters for all your plug-in devices. Excellent staff.
From the front desk to the maid staff to the restaurant/bar staff, we were treated wonderfully. The place is dog-friendly, so we had our bulldog in tow and he was showered with treats and love by all. The Riverview Lounge has the friendliest and most polite bartenders. I’m a huge beer fan, but we opted for this bar over Marietta Brewing Co. because of how great the staff was. The hotel itself if gorgeous, and while the shower head was pretty low, we really have nothing to complain about. There was a wedding going on during our stay, but our section of the floor was still quiet. We loved our stay and look forward to returning!
My wife and I have stayed at this hotel 2 times. Both stays have been a wonderful experience. It is a historic hotel with lots of charm. The rooms have always been very clean and well maintained. The beds have been very comfortable. It does offer a safe in the room. The hotel is over 100yrs old so you may experience a squeaky floor board or 2 and a little slant in the hall way. The check in and check out has always been pleasant and quick. We had breakfast in the Gun Room and it offers an omelette station made to order and plenty of good food. The hotel is an easy walking distance to everything the City of Marietta and the river has to offer.
